Homemade Cocoa

To me, the biggest benefit of winter is endless mugs of hot cocoa.

This drink is all things cozy comfort and if you use the right ingredients… it can be quite nutritious!


Ingredients: 2 Servings

  • 2 tbsp Cacao powder*

  • 2 tbsp Raw Turbinado Sugar

  • 1 pinch salt

  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon

  • 1/2 tsp Ginger

  • 1 tsp Reishi

  • 1 tsp Cordyceps

  • Pinch fresh grated nutmeg

  • Pinch Cayenne

  • 3 cups Milk of choice

How To:

Mix all the dry ingredients together. Divide into two mugs. Heat your milk by stove top, microwave or steamer. Slowly pour the hot liquid into the mugs, one at a time. While pouring, whisk or froth (essential tool, so get one!) the liquid into the powders to blend well. Repeat in the second mug. Top with extra seasoning or natural marshmallows if desired. Enjoy!

What the * ? Cacao is the unheated version cocoa. Meaning the health properties and enzymes are left intact and have a higher nutritional benefit. It is also high in magnesium, iron and antioxidants.

If you don’t have shroom powders, I suggest investing in some as they are useful adaptogens (help cells naturally process stress). You could also use black maca or baobab here.
